Great review. I just read it again.

I just got 2 of the HP M700 from Newegg on the other thread.
You can buy them on site for $23 limit 5.
Should work as boot ssd but I am guessing people want the slot for SSD cache.

Just got notified that my order was cancelled. Was placed with Insight. Too good to be true I guess...
Hmm. They have not updated the site listing yet. It still shows $175.
If it's a pricing error they need to fix it.

Will monitor my email ... but this did look like a great deal for a new basic server.
Heck 1TB + 8GB with a backplane!

Just placed an order, we'll see what happens. Did anyone get their orders shipped?

Just checked, the offer is still on the store's front page, and the MicroServer Gen10 has moved to Best Sellers.

Ok now I'm worried. Is buy.hpe.com a legit site? It has to be run by hpe with that url right? I usually buy hpe through a reseller but for home use I did this. I hope it isn't a fake site.

I'm pretty sure it's legit, since the TLD is hpe.com.

Far more likely is a simple pricing error. Though to shed more light, here is the actual email from Insight:

Joel,

HP has notified us that item# 870208-001 is discontinued and all orders for it cancelled.

Very sorry,
Insight

870208-xx1 is the preconfigured SKU, unless HPE stops clearOS or 1TB drives then discontinuing of the model does carry with it a small chance that there is something new coming... hmmm

My order of 2 units have not charge my credit card yet.
Insight is the market partner to fulfill my HPE order.
It may ship or not.

I am not worry because I don't need the two Microserver Gen10 server.

Still have a new SM SYS-5018A-MLHN4 , 4bay , C2000 server in box .
Got it from Amazon for $175 shipped

I must have missed that one. Was that a BF deal?

That is what I thought but you never know these days!

I wonder what they're going to do with all these orders from HPE's site.

I suspect they'll get cancelled as well; maybe a few will go through if it was a vendor clearing stock, so Patrick may get lucky. :)

I just got my cancelation e-mail. Stinks!

Suggest not ordering these as it looks like they are not interested in fulfilling.

I just got a survey email from HPE.
They are conducting a small survey and asking how I found out about the product.
The answers are to drive better promotions towards the right public.
  1. How long were you looking for this product before this Limited Availability Promotion?
  2. How did you find out the Product’s price cut off?
  3. Did you know HPE works with partners to fulfill these orders?
My hypothesis is that the price is legitimate and was a limited quantity promotion. HPE got way more responses than expected and are trying to figure out why. The promotion was likely targeted and other people cough STH cough found out.

Me thinks they don't want to cancel everyone's order. They want some people to take advantage of this. This is likely an intro to working with partners or getting people into their ecosystem. If these people have a bad experience then the promotion just backfired.

This is not a pricing mistake.

Prices for targeted groups are handled with a special discount code but I am sure that these codes make their way to the web quickly.

Doesn't look like any orders will be honored :(
Mine is still processing, but not holding my breath.
