ARRGH - This item is limited to 3 per customer.

Need 12, so I have to set up 3 new accounts.

I don't think we will see 10TB for much less than $180, eh?
In the past at least, I've been able to just make multiple orders, as long as it is shipped. If you do a store pickup order, if the store clerk or manager sees it, they will cancel the extra orders.

If they are available in-store, some times its just easier to drive to a few stores (I have 3 near my location) and just pick them up; the stores will almost always match their online price if it isn't already marked down.

Again though, no 1st hand confirmation by me about what's inside them. I did order a few just to see...

It has been a couple years, but when I bought ~15 of the 8TB ones last time, I had no issues doing it all in one transaction. No one seemed to care about quantity limits.

do what I did with the 8's. Place an order for 3. Then place another order for 3. You just can't do it more than 3 per order. Or go to the store and clear the shelves.

This price is supposedly their advertised BF price. I doubt it will go lower than this until the end of the year. but maybe mid-next year it will be down to $150-ish.... i got some 8TB around $120-ish during BF last year.

Anyone know if these would work in SM chasis with sas3 backplane? Or do they require tape trick?
My SMC SAS3 backplanes are all 2.5", so I haven't confirmed, but all the 3.5" SAS2 backplanes I've tried don't have the 3.3v, so no issue with power disable. If the backplane is powered by a molex 4-pin, chances are high it doesn't have 3.3v.

So tempting to get it.... The only thing is that i already got 8x 4GB HGST sas used enterprise drives from some ebay special a month or so ago for $45 each... good deal considering that each of those drive only have less than 30 hr of use and 4GB write to them (most likely all from secure erase) in SMART...

gonna wait to BF to see if anything lower will come up since i don't need HDD that urgently. These are definitely good though since they are the sata type so you don't need to have any sas controller... much easier for plug and play.
