what is the most cost effective highest frequency 2011 v2?

I am assuming that would be the e5-2667 v2? I 've never seen much below $200 yet....

If you are only using up to 6 core then something like 1650 v2 is cheaper and give same up to 6 core speed but then 1650 is only 6 cores total. while the 2667 v2 let you uses 2 more cores as well as flexibility to add another cpu. so probably worth that 80-90$ premium over the 1650 v2?

any advantage that the 1650 v2 has over the 2667 v2?

2667 8 * 3,3 base = 26,4 GHz total
2687W 8 * 3,4 = 27,2 GHz total
1660 6 * 3,6 = 21,6 GHz total
1650 6 * 3,5 = 21,0 GHz total

But no idea on prices;)
But as usual depends on your use case; if you need 8 cores than 6 cores just won't cut it ... But if you don't need them then no reason to almost double the price ($200+ - $80/90)...

I don't think so. 2667v2 has more cores, similar single core speed.

2687 v2 is a waste of money for any incremental increase i think. 1650 v2 is relative cheap but only 6 cores.

e5-1680 v2 is really expensive at $350+ any idea why this 8 core is so expensive compared to 2667 v2?

I mean 2667 v2 is not the cheapest high frequency but i think it's the most flexible..

1680 is probably quite rare and also is the fastest single socket cpu which came at a premium originally.
Also I assume some ppl don't know that you can run a 2xxx cpu in a single socket board (and usually vice versa)

But it sounds like your mind is made up and its not going to be a bad choice;)

I saw some benchmark with the e5-1680 v2 overclocked to 4.5ghz. i think this cpu has the ability to overclock that's not avail with 2667 v2....

Definitely the ability to overclock. Using an x79 motherboard from ASRock (does not work with most other brands), you can use a Xeon E5-1xxx CPU along with cheap DDR3 RDIMM and still overclock both CPU and memory. Have your cake and eat it...
The E5-2667v2 is still more expensive because you can use 2 CPUs in one system and have 2 more cores per CPU.

i am not doing much overclock so i think 1680 is out of my consideration since without overclock 1680 is a worse deal compared to 2667. 1650 is not bad but 2 cores less and no flexibility to use dual cpu. so i think will probably pay the $80 premium for the 2667... now if i can find a decently priced 2667 v2...

bought a couple of 2667 v2 for around $370. couldnt get anything lower... these high frequency parts seem to hold their price more than the high core lower frequency parts....
