That's interesting that there are several people that's buying like 14+ at once.... wondering if they are building that many workstation on old hardware or hoarding and speculating...

Oh good, they've gone back down.

I own a total of 14 right now, and have been considering getting 36 more. Those cryptos don't mine themselves. :)

Gpus are better powerwise, CPUs are better $wise, plus you can actually buy them!

The 2680v2 is nice but I keep looking at the 2697 v2's. The 2670's were such a good deal that it's hard to bring myself to make the move.
With the price of ram the last year it seems like its going to be a loooong time before I populate my v3 board.

2696 and 2697 v2 are wacko price. might as well go v3....lol...

was good when it was $300 or less for 2696 v2 but not anymore...

I have a supermicro x10drg-qf waiting in a box for ddr4 since ram prices went up and never came back down again. I could be waiting a very long time. Till then upgrading my server/dungeon workstation to more cores and hertz is the only reasonable option. OR I could just sit on my 2670's and wait for hell to cool off a bit. RAM, Video cards and SSD's have all been carrying price premiums that don't make a lot of sense to me.
Maybe I should be coin mining during the off hours.

Bad news: according to etnews samsung uses now a full plant for image sensors. Last year (2017) that plant produced dram (and nand), so prices for ddr4 will go up in 2018 again.

I don’t think the ram producers are in any rush to see prices drop, the are making get $$ now for all of them. Sad but true.

uhh i did sell a GTX 1060 like 3 months ago for 170$. I thought i had a great sale in it considering i got it for 125$ originally. So with RAM and GPU's right now you're not the only one.

Ahh, the bitter taste of regret. I suspect from here on out this will match the E5-2670 rush a while back, and I don’t expect the prices to go down again. Although a bit part would be how many E5-2670 v2 processors were put in service by the hyper scale crowd - anyone happen to know if that’s where these units are coming from?

Over the past 5 days or so across a few different sellers there’s been at a minimum 60 to 80 of them sold. And then they pop up again (same or different seller) at slowly rising prices.

I never noticed US$185 personally - I saw them go US$177 to US$195 to US$215 which seems to be the current rate. And they follow each other in lockstep on the pricing (which makes perfect sense) Note that I am only counting US sellers (ie. none from China, Hong Kong, etc) and only the few that have actual quantity (ie. not one or two at a time)

I have definitely noticed that (unless they just happen to be getting them decomm’d in lots of 15 to 30) that after the original sellers got their 100+ each out the door, they seem to be releasing them 20 or 30 at a time, let those sell out, then pop up another listing, usually with a slightly higher price. Or is that just me?

E5-2680V2 are $220 atm now, curious why the sudden $40 price change in 2 days. I regret not buying them @ $170 recently.

May have to settled for E5-2670 V1 (~115)

Sorry to hear that ;(. Just looked myself now. Looks like price for all v2 cpu across the board has gone up significantly since like 3 months ago...

Coupled also to that is the increase also in DDR3 which is still a lot cheaper than DDR4 but it has gone up.

The only one I notice hasn't gone up recently is the 2690 v2 which is still around $305 but it's always seems overpriced

Also given that 2680 v2 is now over $200+, 2667 v2 at $250 is actually not too bad

Overall however, this sucks!!!
