$799 Price is insane , it is still sold out.
With difficulty going to the moon in less than 21 days. It is always certain that it will double again in less than 30 days.
For small miner, it is hard to see any reasonable ROI time frame.
They went super fast. Oh well, i dont want to spend 799 on xfx brand card or vega stock form anyways. If it was water cooled version i might consider it.

The one card i have will keep mining whatever it can, and next new coin that will eventually hit. Mining coins is always a rinse and repeat process.

Profit in deep a*s, unknown ROI due to constant rising nethash and diff. Good luck with even 700 bucks card

The XMR-Stak author is working on improving AMD GPU performance. Will be interesting if he gets this to work.

[WIP] add new option `extra_intensity` by psychocrypt · Pull Request #752 · fireice-uk/xmr-stak · GitHub

[WIP] add new option `extra_intensity`

use extra available memory with CL_MEM_USE_PERSISTENT_MEM_AMD suggested in #567

  • add new AMD backend option extra_intensity
  • extra intensity will be use the VRAM of the GPU which can be addressed by the host and device
Note: There is only a limited amount of memory for extra_intensity available. The amount of memory is in the most cases 256MB which means you can increase extra_intensity not over 128but maybe also this value is not available. For VEGA GPUs the new option should be only used for the thread with the smaller intensity.
Note2 It could be that it is possible to increase the extra_intensity over 128. If so please try if it is possible to use only one thread for the VEGA GPU and set extra_intensity to the same value you are normally use for the second thread of the gpu.
WARNING it could be that it is not possible to use different paramater for the intensity and extra_intensity for the first and second thread used to utilize one VEGA GPU. If so please report it to me.

"The good old days" ,
I spent $1600 each to build 2 x ASUS 2U 4nodes dual E5-2650 v3 .
16 x E5-2650 v3 produced almost 1 XMR per day.

Those 2 ASUS 2U 4 nodes been ROI many times over.
Since March 2017 , only rebooted once to change out the wall power socket.

Yes from great deal section , also lucky enough to BO 16 x E5 v3 CPU at $110 a piece.

The best deal was 2 x E5-2683 v3 production CPU at $125 each.
I brought over 30 E5 v3 CPU , the highest dollar paid was the E5-2683 CPU.

These are the reasons I am in the mining game, I could tell my wife that all the toys are paying for itself.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else been watching Ebay prices on these?

USED ones are selling at $1100!!!

I've got two (had a third that I sold for a small gain) and it's getting awfully tempting to sell them. Why?

1080s are superior for the intended purpose of these cards (gaming), and I could put the money from the Vegas into some hardware that's a bit more resilient to a crypto crash (EPYC anyone?). Without the cryptocurrency effect the cards would be worth $250-300 used.

have you picked you next crypto coin? maybe another cryptonight-light one?
I was mining monero on minexmr with my Vega rig.

Using their Estimate Mining profits with 8 KH/s = .051 XMR/day and at current price of $335.90 thats $17.13 a day

I'm trying Sumokoin using sonofatcech pool - their estimator using 8kh/s = 3.80 sumo a day - but its been as high as 6 lately. At a current price of $7.81 x 3.8 = $29.678 a day - almost double the earnings of monero mining.

If anyone is mining sumokoin is there a better pool? The only other one I saw is huge - hashvaultpro.
Sumokoin Mining Pools Rating | Investoon

I'm into my 3rd day of mining it - 8 payments, 11.39 coins so far.

BTW using XMR-STAK same settings as monero.

Also FYI Circusdad has updated his guide hand has new overdrive tool settings that he says pretty much eliminates hash drops. He has been testing them for the paste 3 weeks and they are now standard for the guide.

Sonofatech has been pretty decent for me.

So my work firewall is blocking Circusdad's webpage, and Google's cached version did not appear any different, could you summarize what's different from the old one?

  • THIS LOG CAPTURES NOTABLE CHANGES TO THE GUIDE CONTENT:
    2018-01-17
    • I have been testing (and sharing with many via Reddit/chat/Slack direct messages) a new set of OverdriveNTool.ini parameters since just before the start of the year... point is, it's been about 3 weeks of testing and I have seen better stability and know of no bad effects. My 5 Vega miner (3xVega 64 2x Vega 56) has been hashing without drop for over a week with the settings. As of today I am making them the guide standard. While OverdriveNTool cannot adjust the GPU_P0 to P5 and Mem_P0 to Mem_P2 values, it can disable those power states completely. That is what the new guide standard file does. These are great settings for mining but be advised that if you do not have a dedicated miner then the GPU will continue to reside in the higher power P-states even after you are done mining... because all the power states are disabled. (They can be easily enabled with a separate OverdriveNTool.bat file that calls profiles that do not have the lower states disabled.)

Interesting. I'll definitely have to try that when I get home. I wonder if that renders the registry mods and reset tool unnecessary?

I do minimally, but only speculative because the possibility of exchange is low.

Hasn't been a problem for me. I've converted Sumo into $$ via LTC three times now. Cryptopia and Livecoin exchanges.

If you want the better payout of Sumo without the exchange risk, you'll probably mine Sumo if you setup for Nicehash.
