Speaking of other sellers, this one is a hot mess...

SuperMicro SYS-6027B-TLF Barebone SuperServer 6027 (2U) SYS-6027B-TLF | eBay

Is that a $300 heatsink? C602 chipset with 1356 processors??
Some sellers update the prices on items to absurdly high levels when they are out of stock, instead of listing the item as out of stock. I assume it's to work around some ebay limitation. For example, ebay offers a certain number of free listings, above which you have to pay a listing fee. If you never take down your listings, easier to stay under that limit.

For the chassis being mentioned, ebay still shows good amounts of stock, but contacting the seller directly they say they're close to sold out of that model. Not looking forward to validating yet another hardware platform. Glad I picked up the 40 of them at least. Another ebay seller has some too, a little more expensive, and no rails (but does have caddies).
Scratch that, the "other seller" is the same seller under a different name. They had listed on ebay at least 500 QTY a month ago, none now. So my "little order" of 40 of them wasn't what cleared them out.

The seller says they had huge demand from other miners over the holiday. Also, I know of at least one other host quite a bit bigger than I am who was interested in this model server who is following these forum posts. Not sure if they bought or not.

You're right, it is open source. And of course you can do what ever you want with it, but you shouldn't advice ppl. to turn off donation at all. It's kinda respect the work and effort.
Hello

I tried your miner and wanted to compare the results to xmr-stak.

To make a fair comparison could you tell me how I can reproduce this config in your miner:

I need num of cpu's and cpu please. I'll then create the doublehash mask for you.

Please try out which works best.

Same config as on xmr-stak would be: 0xF0F.

"doublehash-thread-mask" : "0xF0F" or "0x707" or "0x303".

0xF0F would use 20mb cache per cpu,
0x707 would use 19mb cache per cpu
0x303 would use 18mb cache per cpu

This is config for Linux. Windows has different alignment. Please let me know if you need Windows config.

You've scared me into action. I've been watching these for a while, and finally pulled the trigger on 3.

For cryptonight-lite

With no option at all. The hash rate is swinging between 2.6 and 2.9k. Do you know why it is swinging?

-v 2 => 2.9k stable
-v 2 --doublehash-thread-mask 0xF0F => 2.5K stable
-v 2 --doublehash-thread-mask 0x707 => 2.4 stable

Actual xmr-stak => +3K (AES-NI, Hugepages, no prefetch, configuration mixed as above)

Which bug?
Meltdown which affects Intel CPUs.

I'm still running an old kernel on my mining rigs so I'm unsure if the new (patched) kernel delivers a performance hit to the CryptoNight algo or if it's unaffected.

You can disable the patch (on Linux) by adding "pti=off" to your kernel config (GRUB) or "nopti" to your GRUB config. I'd only do this if your rig is dedicated to mining and does not contain any sensitive information.

I currently don't have an explanation for the results.

Is -t 32 defined?

The miner should also printout which threads are running in double hash mode.

I run Ubuntu xenial proposed and it runs a bit faster than xenial official.

I tried both low-latency kernels but they were slower.

Anyone do mining in a shared vSphere environment? I have a mostly idle server and am curious if there are any special tweaks I should be doing for best performance? My hash rate with dual Xeon E5-2670 v1's is ~2,000-2,500 on average. Unfortunately, yes, I have to keep vSphere so going to something else isn't an option.

Sure do. All the time. Turn off HT. Make individual VMs small enough to fit on one CPU. Hash away. If you really want, you can fill up the cores. And make the priority low to make sure your other VMs don’t suffer.

Appreciate the advice. So would you say that two 8-core VMs is better than one 16-core VM? Also should I be setting processor affinity in the VM settings?

If you can it's usually a good idea. There's a performance penalty for crossing NUMA nodes.
