slight correction, no tax only if you're not in CA.

i don't get the limit thing... most places that will want RE drives would likely use them in servers and disk arrays...

Yea, the limit is odd. But, I only need 4 to fill out the last few slots on my NAS so it worked for me.

Been a weekend of HDD purchases for me.

did you pick up more of the 8TB NAS drives from Best Buy?
I wanted too, but I waited and thankfully it ended. I'm in an odd situation, I have 8 4tb Drives in my NAS, and I have 20 2TB Drives in my ESXi box, which I'm using about 9TB of.

Right now my media and data is replicated between the NAS and the appropiate ESXi VM. I could buy about 4 or so of the 8TB's and be in about the same shape on the ESXi box as far as storage (getting rid of the 2TBs). But, I'm hesitant.

I did, however, purchase 4 15K SAS6 600GB drives to create a RAID10 on the ESXi box. Nice landing spot for the critical components of the VM's while offloading static data to the SATA array.

No issues that I can see, I won't mention what I'm pairing them up with.

Enterprise vs. Consumer? I'll take the refurb Enterprise. I really don't care about the warranty, at least at <$100. I want the reliability. Hard to beat the Enterprise stuff.

Mine just showed up and I slid them in the enclosure. Now I'll run several days of testing on them before adding them to the pool.

Bought six from the recent flash sale, arrived today. Opened up to acclimatize for a few hours (not too cold outside today), and out of six, three have non-zero Offline Uncorrectables (13,14, 408). Awaiting RMA from newegg for those.
The three with uncorrectables have 3yrs power_on_hours, and the other three have less than one yr.

And I'm 2/2 on drives with errors. FreeNAS just came back with an Offline Uncorrectable error on my last of these drives.
