@gigatexal, 470s are old so you'll only find them on the secondhand markets. I've been looking at Ebay today and they're close to new 570s in price. Not worth it IMO.

RX 470 and RX 570 are 95% -99% similar. so is RX 480 and RX 580.

That's why RX 470 and RX 580 are still in very high demand and high price.

Buy the cheapest one that you could find.

Interesting that the "older 4 series" cards seem to perform a bit better @ h/w:

Snagged these graphs from a youtube vid - credits here:

R9 290's still best bet at $175.....I mean $225. Jeez people found those quick. 3 weeks ago I was buying them like crazy at $175. Not anymore.

I generally get 950H/s. Lots of power though.

Vegas may be back and stock soon and cheaper, looks like the 3rd party - non reference design cards are starting to get listed at Amazon/NewEgg/B&H - Asus Rog Strix

Note not in stock but looks like they getting ready

I've seen those for a week or so by now. Until I see them in stock I won't be holding my breath.

Then profits will drops dramatically due to huge increase of network hashrate. CPU miners will be totally f**d up. Hope that doesn't happen

I got a couple of powercolor refurbs from the local microcenter for 199 each. Just set them up:

RX470 4Gb, XMR 940 H/s

GPU_P7=1200;925
Mem_P1=1960;950

XMR-Stak
"gpu_threads_conf" : [
// RX 470
{ "index" : 0,"intensity" : 940, "worksize" : 8,"affine_to_cpu" : 1, "strided_index" : true},
{ "index" : 0,"intensity" : 940, "worksize" : 8,"affine_to_cpu" : 1, "strided_index" : true},
]

... so far, my testing shows that the 470's are much more efficient than the 570's

Good price for the RX 470.

I was able to crank the RX 470 to over 900 H/s, but the power consumption make it less profitable.
Also few GPU memory error shown up in hwinfo64

I back down the hashrate a bit to make it stable and power efficient.

Same. I am getting a few errors at this setting, but no bad results yet. I will likely drop it back a bit as well. I am going to play with mem timings a bit. I just quick flashed to Uber 3.1 per the mod guide on reddit, but i will play a bit more...

470's are nice cards....

$799 Price is insane , it is still sold out.
With difficulty going to the moon in less than 21 days. It is always certain that it will double again in less than 30 days.
For small miner, it is hard to see any reasonable ROI time frame.
