Be aware that the older 826 Backplanes, TQ and SAS1, did not need the metal support frame.Hello,
I have a old sc826 case with 3gbps backplane
BPN-SAS-826EL2
I need 6Gbps so after a search i found the BPN-SAS2-826EL1 the 6gbps version.
Its compatible? Can i replace the backplane?
Thanks,
The old mountig solution did use "pinns" on the chassi bottom witch holded the Backplane in the Case. Since the SAS2 And A Backplanes use the Metal Frame Supermicro left Cut outs in the pcb of the Backplane where the pins of the Chassis are.Can you elaborate on the *need*? To mount it properly or to support its weight?
Yes.So if the sas2 backplane have the metal frame its compatible?
No you can´t please see my post #6.You can install it with or without the frame.
