Since we have done this for every Intel Xeon E3 release thus far, starting a thread for the Intel Xeon E3-1200V3 series processors based on Intel's new Haswell architecture.

We already did a main site post on the rumored Intel Xeon E3-1200V3 lineup including a comparison to V1 and V2 chips. Do expect that we will be benchmarking the chips top to bottom again come June. Here is the matrix from that post:

Also wanted to keep a list of motherboards from various manufacturers for the C222, C224 and C226 chipsets. I have seen some leaks thus far but also have been getting the full product lineups from manufacturers so expect lots on release day.

Supermicro LGA1150 Xeon Motherboards
Here's a main site post on the boards and a quick table for everyone. 10 new C22x motherboards.

ASUS LGA1150 Xeon Motherboards
Here are the ASUS LGA1150 Haswell series Xeon E3-1200 V3 motherboards. As mentioned in the ASUS Haswell server motherboard piece, the ASUS P9D-MH-SAS-10G-DUAL appears to be a monster micro ATX motherboard.

Added the ASRock Haswell generation Intel Xeon E3-1200 V3 server motherboards. Article here.

Here is the article on the Tyan LGA1150 Haswell Xeon server motherboards

Still do not have plans from others but this is a start.

Additional Information

Maximum Memory Supported for Haswell
Haswell both in the Intel Xeon E3-1200 V3 and Core i3, i5 and i7 versions will support only up to 32GB of DDR3 DRAM. This is utilizing a 4x 8GB UDIMM configuration. See maximum memory for Haswell Xeons.

Waiting eagerly but not patiently.

Actually for what we do I'm more excited about SB and IvB prices dropping

I am happy and sad all at the same time... Haswell marks the end of me knowing what was coming out and the end of my Intel and AMD NDAs.

Noticed that many of the 82574 based dual xeon server boards are now i350 based. Will the haswell e3's follow or stay with the older controllers?

Most likely they will include i210 controllers, Intels designated (low-end) replacement for the 82574.

This is true. The 82574L is going to be discontinued in around 5 years. Intel seems to be aiming for a 10 year lifecycle at the lower end so the i210 is starting to take over mid-way through the 82574L 10 year cycle. I've heard at quantity they tend to be a bit less expensive for OEMs to integrate as well.

While the i350 has some nice additional features, they are basically useless for gigabit ethernet for anything faster than a Atom. They even reduced the number of queues on the i210 compared to the 82574L, because no driver implemented them as they are not needed.

Hi, 1st post on these forums.

Do you think we will see some 1150 motherboards with integrated intel x540 NIC like the supermicro X9SRH-7TF? which I think is a great deal (except that I don't need a s2011 machine) as the supplement for the x540 nic is just about $80 over boards with the same features but w/o the 10gbe nic, compared to the $500 for the X540T2 adapter !
Apparently there are already some 1150 boards with 10GbE NICs but that's dual SFP+ NICs :
ASUS - P9D-MH/SAS/10G-DUAL
TYAN - Server Motherboards : S5530 (S5530WG4NR-LE-2T-B), Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3, i3-2100 (22nm/Haswell) series processors, LGA 1150

Mapotofu - there is a good chance we will see some in the near future. SFP+ is going to be more common. May be getting at least one of those two boards to review.

Onboard components tend to be much less expensive than add-in cards.

Updated first post.

Supermicro officially released 1150 motherboards.

Super Micro Computer, Inc. - Products | Motherboards | Xeon
Includes a couple of interesting boards not on Patrick's list: X10SAE & X10SAT, each with 8 SATA-III.

Also, X10SL7-F is in the table above but notice that in addition to 4x SATA-III and 2x SATA-II it also has 8x SAS using LSI SAS2308, all in a uATX form factor. That makes this a VERY interesting board for a small server.

Had those called out in the notes below. If you note, the Supermicro X10SL7-F is the cover image and is in a test bed right now :) Vendors sent me their lists so have a few more queued up. Will have a big comparison sheet soon.

Can't wait to see that review. That is one very, very interesting board.
