For whatever reason, I have two identical Supermicro 1230v2 machines running for Monero using xmr-stak-cpu. Same hardware, processor, pool, etc. Just did a fresh install on both of them as well.

One is maxing at 267H/s, but the other is only seeing 106H/s. I've compared variables set at a mobo and they appear to be identical. Nothing different has been done to either machine.

I'm surely missing something somewhere though - this sounds too far off to not be a setting somewhere. Anyone have ideas?
I met similar situation before. Check the bios setting of CPU power management of the CPU which has better performance. Mark it down. Then enter the bios of the other shower system. Make sure the setting follows what you marked down. Also make sure the power settings of two system are the same.

thanks a lot! it turned out to be AES. At the bios, it was showing disabled on both, so I didn't think of it right away, but now with the one showing it on and the other off, they're matching up ~270H/s.

Cheers! Happy to hear it works!

Alright, a couple more questions, which I've been trying to counteract by tweaking with xmr-stak-cpu. I had some success with 2620's @ 660 h/s, but these 2697v3's are being tricky. I think I should be able to get closer to 2kh/s.

- Why are some showing na / low averages - these were the 'stock' settings on #1? (0,15,26,28)
- I am only using up to number 21 on #2, if I try to add anything higher, a majority of the ID's end up with n/a. How can I maximize / tune these to the best performance? Running minimal centos 7 installs across the board.

I'm seeing a better hash rate (975 H/s) on dual E5-2660 v2 than dual E5-4650 V3 QS (775H/s).
Not sure if some BIOS setting need to be tweaked in in X10DRI-T4 motherboard. I'm using just two DIMM one each for CPU. I know that is sub optimal for other tasks. Not sure if that has any effect on the hash rate.

I do not have E5-4650 v3 , but have a pair of E5-4655 v3 , comparing apple with orange here.

On-line CPU(s) list: 0-23
Thread(s) per core: 2
Core(s) per socket: 6
Socket(s): 2
NUMA node(s): 2
Vendor ID: GenuineIntel
CPU family: 6
Model: 63
Model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-4655 v3 @ 2.90GHz
Stepping: 2
CPU MHz: 2999.914
CPU max MHz: 3200.0000
CPU min MHz: 1200.0000
BogoMIPS: 5788.36
Virtualization: VT-x
L1d cache: 32K
L1i cache: 32K
L2 cache: 256K
L3 cache: 30720K
NUMA node0 CPU(s): 0-5,12-17
NUMA node1 CPU(s): 6-11,18-23

Dual E5-4655 v3 = 1169.5 H/s

E5-4655 v3 have 30M cache , but only 6 cores 12 Threads.
Before yesterday , I was only running 12 threads per CPU , leaving 30M - 24M = 6M cache unused , only getting 1098H/s.

I learn something new yesterday. With XMR-STAK-CPU miner.
low_power_mode - This mode will double the cache usage, and double the single
thread performance

So I made a change 2 lines in my config.txt , changed low_power_mode from false to true
{ "low_power_mode" : true, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 },
{ "low_power_mode" : true, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 6 }

Hashrate went up to 1169 H/s

For your CPU, post your xmr-stak-cpu config.txt

E5-2697 v3 have L3 35M , each thread needs 2M , 35M/2 = 17 Threads per CPU.
Dual CPU is 17 x 2 = 34 Threads.

You'll need to reduce number of running threads in config.txt
You may actually see hashrate go up.

This is where it gets strange. I've been messing with these quite a bit trying to tweak with it. If I stop, and run it again, different cores end up being in use.

What happen if you use auto-config with xmr-stak-cpu miner?

I do not have E5-4650 v3 , but have a pair of E5-4655 v3 , comparing apple with orange here.

{ "low_power_mode" : true, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 },
{ "low_power_mode" : true, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 6 }

Hashrate went up to 1169 H/s

For your CPU, post your xmr-stak-cpu config.txt
That was awesome tip. I changed the config, txt now running 16 threads (7 low power + 1 regular thread) for each cpu. The hash rate did improve some while not as good as yours. I'll let this run till tomorrow and may be turn off extra cores save on power. Here are my results and updated config.txt

2 x 2660v2 all cores enabled 8 x 4gb 1600mhz, 185w according to bmc, 1040 h/s
xmr.JPG

edit - started the miner again, now getting 1060 h/s. Every time I start the miner I get a different result, don't know why

Added the Intel Xeon Gold 6148F to the list.

Also wow for a 2P system:
Code:

Holy Batman

In few years , XMR mining will be a thing of the past, unless you have a rack of these monsters.

Why does rate here show 3500 but first page is 1900?
