Nice price for $50!
I've been using these:
Mellanox HP 498386-B23 3M 4x DDR/QDR QSFP IB Fiber Optic Cable

On a different note, this is my first 40GB card. Can someone point me to a QSPF cable that I can use? The idea is to direct connect 2 of these cards in 2 different hosts.
Check the search results for "qsfp sas" on ebay. I got that way two 3m brocade qsfp+ cables for $12 each.

So these are restricted to 40GbE only while e.g ConnectX-3 VPI supports both 40GbE and 56Gb IB?
I do have access to MT27500 adapters, ConnectX-3 VPI, just wondering what the difference is..

The description says 40 and 56GBe. Thr model number on the listing also can do both as per the mellanox website. I don't know beyond that.

Thanks for the Confirmation @Patrick.

What kind of cable will I need to connect this card to an SFP+ port on a switch?

Mellanox QSA plus dac or sfp's and fibre. But not 100% sure the QSA works on the NIC side.

Wonder if the cards can be flashed to a VPI firmware, too.

Which SFP+ transreceiver will work with this?

No SFP+, use QSFP+. I don't believe you can break it up into 4 lanes like you can a switch. Search ebay for "HP 498386-B28 30M" -- I have one of these running across my roof to the basement with these cards :)
That looks like a DAC cable rather than a transceiver. Will this work?

Looks like I'm incorrect here, qsfp+ to sfp+ may work NIC to switch.

Yeah, it is a DAC, an Active Optical Cable, since it runs 30 meters, and it has a Mellanox transceivers.

Those optics would most likely work (I don't have it), but this will definitely work: MC2210411-SR4, since it is Mellanox branded.

Seller countered with $75 each for qty 6 as they were down to their last few units. Still doesn't seem to be too bad a deal, as I needed them for my homelab refresh over the next month. I'll probably eat my words though if the seller relists a new batch.

I m completely baffled by the choices for cables available on eBay. Can someone post a link to a cheap compatible cable. Preferably 1-2m long.

Thanks in advance.

Recieved my cards today. They were packed well but no anti static bags. Just wrapped in bubble wrap and in a well padded box.

Physically they seem OK. Will test them over the weekend. I can only check whether they are recognized by the system. I don't have the cables in hand yet.

Can these be used with a QSPF to 4 SFP+ breakout cable to direct connect hosts?
