Same as amazon direct but looses the free global shipping (to Singapore)
Either way wondering if the will go lower...
Same thought here. An interesting thing happened to me on this switch. I had a C3 alert show up on the 19th that it had dropped to under $300. When I pulled Amazon up, it didn't reflect that. The drop still shows on C3, but it was interesting to see it start to drop just a few days later.

I've decided that since I already have 1 of them, I'll ride it out a bit longer. If I needed one now, I'd probably pull the trigger.

. . . and the TP-Link JetStream T1700G-28TQ has hit $299 with $0 tax (at least my location) and Prime. Linky.

I'm still waiting on price drop on Mikrotik CRS210-8G-2S+IN 8x Gigabit Smart Switch 2xSFP+ RouterOS L5 802.3af/at
but doesn't seem likely. Mikrotik is much more low volume than other brands.

hmm.. the big brother to this Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM is cheaper.

The WISP's love MikroTik but are they really any good ?
According to their specs while not performing badly by any means they are CPU limited (who would ever switch 320G on cheap equipment like that anyway so not really relevant)

No point having a 10G switch that under load only performs much the same as 1G cisco or HP or whatever.

It's not the big brother - the CRS210 is a full Router, the CSS326 is just a Switch (hence the cheaper price).
Routing performance on the CRS210 is poor. It is essentially a switch with routing functionality tacked on for those who need it. But I'm sure it performs adequately to route regular home internet speeds in to your LAN. Certainly no worse than consumer wifi routers.

Besides I'm interested in a switch. Not a router.

I came across this Buffalo BS-XP20 BS-XP2008 Unmanaged Switch;
Buffalo BS-XP20 BS-XP2008 Unmanaged Switch - Newegg.com

It seems pretty decent, 8 x 10GBE-T, $540, fanless
I just can't seem much on comments and reviews on this, seems like a better alternative to the Netgear however its unmanaged.
I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with this one.
Interesting, on Buffalo's site they list several features I would associate with a "smart" switch:
VLAN Management
QoS
Link Aggregation
IGMP snooping
Traffic Management

Does their listed power consumption of 38W sound believable for 8 10GBase-T ports?

38w is efficient but possible with only 8 ports.
Seems firmware update will allow vlan, link aggregation and a few basic features.
Fanless would have been nice ...

Now I'm dreaming about a perfect switch.

This switch has at least 8 SFP+ ports, 12 RJ45 ports (1g or 10g), and at least 2 POE RJ45 ports. Its passively cooled (or at least mostly passive/silent except when under extreme load). It also costs under $500.

Will this unicorn ever exist I wonder?

Is there any good alternatives to the XS708Ev2? Everything cheaper seems to be SFP+ or too noisy.

Price has been fluctuating these past couple of days. Currently an Amazon fulfilled seller has it for $293 (no tax for me). Has anyone bought items from QPTechs before?

I ended up getting the CRS210-8G-2S+IN. Bought it with a 3M Miktotik DAC from eurodk.com. Currently using it as a dumb switch. Quite the learning curve when it comes to figuring out how VLANs are supposed to work on this. Primarily got it to get everything on the same network segment for simplicity with 10GbE server.
