Yes XMR is what will be mined for the foreseeable future. I still do not have exact power usage yet.Which currency would this be profitable to mine for? At 3480 H/s and minimum power consumption numbers the only ones with profitable values are XMR, ZEC, and LTC(which is less than pennies on the dollar per month). Admittedly, I don't know much about cryptomining and I'm strictly looking at currency values on cryptocompare. I didn't see the specific currency in your OP but saw a reference to XMR in your screenshot post, so is that it? Appreciate the insight. I could see how doubling the amount of nodes each time could become more profitable. Starting off with 4 nodes, then adding 2U more worth, for 8, so on and so forth. At 13920 H/s the profit per month isn't anything to scoff at, though, ignore admitted I would be interested to know the power consumption to see how it would pan out across 16 individual dual-proc nodes.
What hardware did you use for mining? Just CPU based?I am going to hijack Klee's thread for a moment.
@frogtech
I mine XMR to have my new shiny hardware to pay for itself in some months.
Here is my math.
My little setup mined 0.8 XMR per day, 24 XMR per month, at the current price $36 = $864 per month
It cost me about $250 for electricity, then it left me with $614 profit per month or $7368 per year to pay for new toys.
So E5-2670 v1 x2 is just a bit less than 2650 v3, in terms of H/s, just going off Patrick's chart of Monero mining performance. Is the primary difference for you between the v1 and v3 chips in the power consumption? I think I may have seen where you said you disabled some cores in some other posts but I haven't dove deep into them yet.The main worker is a ASUS 4 nodes 2u chassis, each nodes have 2 x E5-2650 v3 , 2 x 4gb ram , 16gb SSD.
the ASUS node produced 876 H/s , each chassis is 876 x 4 = 3,504 H/s , consume 576 watt .
I have 2 ASUS chassises, each ASUS chassis cost me about $1500.
2 X RX 480 cards host by a MSI x99 board with a E5-2650L v3
1 x RX 470 card host by a Asrock Extreme6 board with a E5-2673 v3
Still dont have a kilowatt meter........@Klee power #'s
