Taking AWS monero mining notes:

c4.8xlarge
c4.8xlarge = 734 H/s w/ 36 threads
c4.8xlarge = 959 H/s w/ 24 threads
c4.8xlarge = 979 H/s w/ 25 threads
c4.8xlarge = 941 H/s w/ 26 threads

Verdict: L3 cache via lscpu is the best. Not profitable even with spot instance pricing.

r4.4xlarge
r4.4xlarge = 530 H/s w/ 15 threads
r4.4xlarge = 560 H/s w/ 16 threads
r4.4xlarge = 560 H/s w/ 17 threads
r4.4xlarge = 558 H/s w/ 18 threads
r4.4xlarge = 525 H/s w/ 24 threads

r4.2xlarge
r4.2xlarge = 287 H/s w/ 8 threads
r4.2xlarge = 300 H/s w/ 9 threads
r4.2xlarge = 290 H/s w/ 10 threads
r4.2xlarge = 284 H/s w/ 16 threads

The numbers are jumping quite a bit on all of the AWS instances. Likely due to resource contention. All instances launched on E5-2686 V4 machines.

@Patrick , You have put together a great list of hardware and hash rates. The one piece of the puzzle that would really help is watt usage. Preferably watts during mining & idle system watts. That would really help do some math of cost analysis for upfront cost+operating cost compared to Hash rates.
Thank You for the list so far.

Anyone got an E5-2651 v2 to test? 12C/24T OEM cpu with 30MB L3 cache.

Guessing around ~800H/s for a pair? (Natex has them for $168 ea)

They should do more I think. My 2x2660v1 makes around 850H/s with 20MB L3 and 10 threads using Wolf's cpuminer.

How are people doing with the RX580/ 570/ 550? Are they more profitable?

@Philip Wells I'd say you posted too fast. Not finished :D
RX580/570 are a scam... they are extreamly overclocked GPUs... same thing as 1800x CPU
GPU take more power than overclocked maxwell.

If you pay or yours parents for electricity better go with 480 or downlock 580 and UV....

550 it's a robbery. For just a little more you got 460...
You will have to wait many months here

I think that would be 10threads per CPU. That would probably add up. I have a single E5-2660v1, with xmr-monero-cpu I got roughly 420h/s with 10 threads. But the machine was almost unusable for regular work (web-browsing, documents, some graphics work...), so I went down to 6 threads, to keep it usable.

ok, thats make sense. after a week of tuning to get the best perf/watt ratio, my dual E5-2450 got ~810H/s@145Watts with 18 threads, one 16GB ram stick runs at 800Mhz PC3L DDR3 4X4, onboard gpu and 4 Cores disabled (2 cores disabled each socket).

@sharpnel

You are a genius , I learn from you to disable unused cores , from 8 cores to 6 cores (2 cores per socket disabled)
Took me a reboot and reconfigure BIOS , Now my dual E5-2450L rig is using 18w less power from 141w down to 126w.
I'll spend more time to tune my mining rig later today.
A quick reboot to disable cores save me 15w = more $$$$

Thanks

For me, those are dedicated mining rigs,
with only 1 stick of ram , either 4gb or 8gb ram. A single 16gb SSD for Ubuntu OS.

In last few years, I brought way too much server hardwares, it is a way to recycle and some money from the last generation v1 or v2 stuff.

For the current v3 or v4 CPU rigs, I purchased more rigs than I could ever use, so I dedicated some rigs to mining. May be in few months after I recoup most of the cost, then I would deploy them to the lab.

To me its finally a hobbie that could pay for itself !! LOL

@TangoWhiskey9

yes, dedicated mining rigs. I open a small second-hand computer store in Thailand, I have 9 of E5-2450 and 10+ of X5650/L5640 laying around my office waiting to ship to customers. well, my answer is like Marsh, too much server hardwares.

Few years ago, I always believed that GPU is the best for mining, so I never look into cryptocurrency. But in the last two months, cryptocurrency is now getting more and more attention, so I searched what is the best coin to ming with CPU. Last time I was mining Zcoin and then switch to Monero.

I can actually enable all the cores but I need to assign these threads properly (like 9 threads per CPU). The only reason I disabled cores is to save more power.

2x2660v1 running on Arch and C8220 dell board. 10 threads per CPU so 20 total, sorry for the confusion.

Hello, I just started to mine Monero again after 2015(?^^). Here are my results:

Ryzen 5 1600 with 2166 Ram
3400 Mhz - 429 H/s
3800 Mhz 6 Threads - 473 H/s
3800 Mhz 7 Threads - 476 H/s
3800 Mhz 8 Threads - 495 H/s
3800 Mhz 9 Threads - 400 H/s
3900 Mhz 8 Threads - 511 H/s
4000 Mhz 8 Threads - 522 H/s

That is really interesting @Wexlike ! Did you happen to look at power consumption at those increments?

I try to check it tomorrow. Another bench Ryzen 5 1600 with 2667 ram:

4000 Mhz 8 Threads 2667 ram - 536 H/s

That sounds really promising @Wexlike
I have just got a 1600 and am only currently getting 320H/s on stak miner. Stock clocks with 2133mhz currently.
Which miner are you using? I am having trouble finding Wolf's CPU miner as the download links seem to be all down..
Could any one share if possible?
