Well, it wasn't complex, keep in mind how bleeding edge arch is.

I used AMDGPU on linux 4.9 with beta support for hawaii chipset (r9 290). Need to add the opencl libraries, git clone wolf miner, and compile.

Each r9 290 is doing 830 H/S @ 1040 MHz GPU / 1425 MHz RAM. So 1660 H/S per machine. I haven't measured the machine power on monero, but I know it was close to 600 W with 2 GPU when I use to mine other alt coins like LTC. I'll report back in a day or 2 with better build log and power measurements

I just found this thread, been playing around with mining Zcash for the last couple of days both in Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 16.04.

Just playing around to learn about it.

Setup is dual E5-2670 cpus and dual AMD RX480's.

Using Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 Beta with the RX480's and it shows ~1175 H/s.

Running Minergate v6.6 on the Cpu's shows ~500 H/s on them and only ~16 H/s on the RX480's with Gpu mining turned on.

Running Minergate on the Cpu's and Claymore CryptoNote on the Gpu's gets the best H/s with ~ 1675 H/s but it shuts down the pc after about 10 minute's of running even tho every thing seems ok. :(

I have not tweaked any settings at all.

EDIT: I have been playing around with the minergate settings for the cpu and if I set it for 8 threads it shows ~300 H/s and if I bump it up to 16 it goes up to ~500 H/s . If I increase the number of threads above 16 it makes no difference with the H/s speed.

And running only 16 threads the the cpu's boost up to 3.0 ghz from 2.6 ghz with 31 threads running.

I just copied over the backup folder I had for Claymore's Cryptonote miner and installed Minergate 6.6, exact same setup that was running on my Dual E5 -2670 build on Windows 8.1 pro , on my new Dual E5-2667 ES build.

Now it runs the same ~1175 H/s with the dual RX 480's running Claymore's miner but now it does ~790 H/s with the Minergate program running just on the CPU's using 32 threads.

Running it with both programs would crash the dual 2670 system but the new one runs fine.

Also the more cpu threads I give it the faster it goes, the old build ran best with 16 was the optimum.

New build is running ~1965 H/s on Windows 10.

So um, my minergate balance keeps getting further and further behind my "total mined" balance. It is now about 2 days behind in earnings and I only started this week. Any advice? Find a new pool? I'm thinking about setting up a private pool for sth or maybe even going solo.

This is great.
1,965 H/s for 2 x RX 480 cards + dual E5-2667 ES Windows 10 system ?
How much is power usage ?
Don't have any idea on the power it uses, MSI Afterburner shows ~90 watts per GPU but I don't know how accurate that is and as for the rest of the pc I do not have a way to measure it.

I rebooted and now it's running over 2000 H/s.

A real consistent 1173-1176 H/s with the two RX 480's
An average of ~835 H/s with the two E5-2667 ES cpu's.

EDIT: I forgot to add that I changed to a different pool.

Is it still not current?
Which balance are you referring to ?
Mine:
Monero 4.129926719872 ~49.13403562 (usd)
You 4.876kH/s Status:ONLINE Active workers:7
Unconfirmed:0.002959219590
Total mined:4.120877458062
Good shares:779,802 Blocks:1 Bad shares:152

My balance is always up-to-date

Minergate is always a little laggy because of unconfirmed if you do it that way. Mine is not bad now.

Hey @Klee - I'm going to try the RX's too. What do I need drivers? Just the regular gaming ones?

I've gotten default minergate app on Windows running but RX480 at 55H/s?

I found the wolfs 0.4 and here's where I'm at with dual CPUs rx470 and rx480 as suggested.
upload_2017-2-10_21-14-19.png

I'm up to 1821 H/s at 560w total.

GPU0 = rx480. GPU1 = rx470. They were cheap. 16% faster for the rx480.

I'd need to run numbers to understand if it's better to run rx470 or rx480 cards.

edit it's now showing 1957H/s maybe cpu cores are going better now.

@Spartus - most pools penalize invalid shares fairly heavily. I think mine was -0.03 or -0.04. If you have 58 that is a big deduction. I am not sure if it happened when I did Minergate for Windows or when I did Wolf's for Windows but one of the two and I had my first bad share after over 6M shares submitted.

Good idea. We probably should have setup instructions in their own threads.
