I like the idea of using 2,4,6,8 of these in a 846 for ease of "AIO" hot-swap testing purposes. And would be affordable.

Why do these adapters all look upside down? My SSD plugs in to the far right, not upside down and to the left

It depends on which sled you have. More specialty sleds like in the FatTwin nodes are incompatible with the regular Gen5/Gen5.5 or the shittier metal sles in SC813.

The metal sleds in SC813's are compatible with the usual Gen5/Gen5.5 sleds.

The one you posted is actually for SC813 chassis with the shittier sleds. The tooless one you want is here: MCP-220-00118-0B

Yup they will.

While not a close up, here's roughly what they look. They come with the Gen5/Gen5.5 sleds that fits in most of the supermicro chassis like the SC826-SC846 chassis.
