I wish the gent luck and hope he heeds some advise, it was definitely an 'approach with trepidation' response from me that spiraled into a 'roh oh' :-D
Luv you @d1enonly, let us know how you progress, don't make me 'LMGTFY' now son , we're here to help when you get hung up on the hard stuff!
I cannot say this any clearer...you need to nuke/delete that array on whatever hardware controller, you CANNOT have any existing disk controller driving those disks, they all need to be hooked up to a simple HBA or (and not recommended) hooked to a card like a perc H710/730 where you would raid 0 config each and every device and THEN let vSAN access/control the disks. You need to get vCenter on local or network accessible storage first and foremost, cannot reside on vSAN disks until after vSAN array is 'alive' and you cannot config vSAN of course w/out vCenter.
Are you trying all of this nested (vESXi on top of ESXi) of hardware level using base ESXi hosts? You are completely throwing me off w/ the comment 'remember that i created my vsan on my esxi1 host and alloted 100gb on that vm'
You will get that message if all the hosts cant see the datastore. It looks like you have a local datastore on each host and trying to make a cluster out of that, won't work like that. Without shared storage a host cluster is fairly useless.I apologize the confusion, i didn't notice the incorrectly type VSAN overthere, i am abandoning the Vsan setup as from what i understand i need flash/ssd for that kind of configuration.
My objective is just setup a cluster with all three host and create a datacluster, i will leave the vsan thing some other time. anyhow i run into this error, file is attached.View attachment 4035 View attachment 4036
You've got no shared storage. There are products out there besides VSAN that can do this without flash, like Stormagic.I apologize the confusion, i didn't notice the incorrectly type VSAN overthere, i am abandoning the Vsan setup as from what i understand i need flash/ssd for that kind of configuration.

Hi theres no need for me to hire a specialist for this as this is for my home lab and personal production purposes. You've got no shared storage. There are products out there besides VSAN that can do this without flash, like Stormagic.
PLEASE PLEASE go hire someone to help. You're about to create a huge mess. Vsphere / ESXI is not something that you can just "pickup" over a weekend.
You've got 48 SAS spindles and you're going to use a NAS for shared storage? You would have been better off with a few SATA SSD's and VSAN, or Stormagic / Starwind / Maxta etc.Hi theres no need for me to hire a specialist for this as this is for my home lab and personal production purposes.
Anyway i already ordered a NAS that i can use for the shared storage.
