Hi Guys,

Xeon Processor E5-2643v2 QS CPU 3.5GHz 6-Core 25M Max 3.8GHz
Xeon Processor E5-2697 v4 ES LGA2011-3 18-Core 2.2GHz Max 2.6GHz
Xeon Processor E5-2697 v2 QS LGA2011 12-Core 2.7Ghz Max 3.0GHz
Xeon Processor E5-2695 V2 QS 2.4Ghz 30MB L3 12-Core Max Turbo 3.2GGhz
Xeon Processor E5-2683 V3 OEM 2.0Ghz 35MB L3 14 Core Max Turbo 3.0Ghz

I am looking for a balance of cores and speed for purely after effects/editing rig.
The problem is it's hard to get >16 cores with above 3.0Ghz.
Based on my research after 16 cores you do not see improvement that much.
After Effects 2014(Allows Multithreading) - 0% improvement after 16 cores

If you find some please let me know and my budget is around $600 for the cpu.
2x $150 for e5 2658
$300 for dual cpu board.
$600 total. 24 cores/48 threads
I doubt, you'll ever find single cpu with 16 cores@3ghz, even 8cores@3ghz+ for $600.
Ill keep an eye on discussion. I'm interested in getting similar

I hope the temperature on idle not 60C :D
At the moment the idle temperature seems to be around 50C with a single fan running at 500 RPM. I used a really bad paste, didn't bother on spreading it properly, the fan is mounted on a pull setup - all of it temporary until I get a set of 2011 brackets for Noctua U12P. The back of the case feels warm but not hot. Will report later when I'm sure about the temperatures.

Cinebench with 104MHz BCLK OC and RAM @ 11-12-12-30.

Hey I am looking to build out a new unRAID server. This is my current build

Current System

COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX
G.SKILL 8GB (8 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 6-Core 3.2GHz Socket AM3 Average CPU Mark5685,

Single Thread Rating: 1224
XIGMATEK Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition CPU Cooler
CORSAIR CXM series CX600M 600W ATX12V v2.3 SLI CrossFire 80

Added the following to the Gigabyte unRAID machine

1 - SYBA SI-PEX40064 PCI-Express 2.0 Low Profile Ready SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card

1 - SanDisk Ultra Fit 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive 128bit AES Encryption Model SDCZ43-016G-G46 running unraid

180gb ssd as cache drive

180gb ssd as mountable drive outside array

Blu ray drive for makemkv

Moved from HP microserver
1 3tb parity drive
3 3tb drives
1 2tb drive

Dockers running:
Handbrake
MakeMKV
Plex - running 24/7
Emby - running 24/7
Logitech Media Server - running 24/7

VMs running:
Windows 8 VM – Runs MCEBuddy, MediaCenter Master, Sometimes handbrake

Current requirements:

I would like to keep my Case and Power supply unit in the build if possible.

10 cores or more – Thinking 12+ would be better

MB support 64gb or more. Probably start build off at 32gb

Current VM running windows 8 to have at least 4 cores or 6 cores assigned to it.

CPU rating of 10,000 or higher.

Price – I would like to keep the MB/CPU combo at $500 or less.

No louder than my current setup

Some CPUs I had started looking at:

E5-2630 V4/V3
– 12803 CPU, 1758 Single Thread

E5 2683 V3 (14 core) – 17900 CPU, 1686 Single Thread

This looks like a decent build - ES Xeon Discussion

How do you figure out what the # means after the ES – I guess what should I be looking for if I want it as close as OEM as possible?

Thanks for any insight.....

ok guys, im back :) !!

right..... going to sell the 5820k on eBay (if anyone in the uk is interested in some sort of deal against a decent Xeon that runs in a x99 UD4P message me ). my plan is to sell the processor i have and run a cheaper Xeon but its confusing as to which will definately run in my board. im struggling to find cpus out there that i know will run on mines and i would prefer at least a 10 core with the best price/performance for me which is some moderate gaming and maybe some editing but nothing to heavy. its coupled to GTX 1060 6gb with 16gb ddr 4 so all pointers/help in finding something would be great. ;-)

Hello.
I am really interested in these CPUs.
I want one of those Xeons for virtualization/gaming/rendering.
I have read through the entire topic, and i stumbled across some (in my eyes) CPUs that would do the job:
e5 2650 v3 es
e5 2658 v3 qs
e5 2690 v3 es

But most of those CPUs only show model 3F, stepping 1.
This equals to a QEYP if im correct. (Its very confusing for me.)

What CPU would you guys recommend? Perfomance to USD wise?
Or do you guys now if there are any better Xeons available ? And which stepping would be the recommended one?

I am currently using E5-2658 v3 and I must say for the price I cannot complain.

Have done Nero burn for kids and from start to finish it is taking 23 mins approx, where on x79 nearing 38/40 mins. Games (Killer Instinct and Forza Beta) smooth as butter. I have not done any virtualization stuff but would imagine it would be great. Temps are anywhere from 43 -51C so ensure you have a sufficient CPU cooler!

Would you recommend buying one of these? My budget is around $350

I'm building a low-cost Xeon to run real-time computations in a c++ environment, across multiple instances.

I have an Asrock X99 Extreme3 MB.

I'm considering one of these:

E5-2690-v3-ES
Intel Xeon E5-2690 v3 ES LGA2011-3 12C Compatible with X99 i7-6850K 6900K 6950X

Intel Xeon E5 2683 V3 OEM
Intel Xeon E5 2683 V3 OEM 2.0Ghz 35MB L3 14 Core Max Turbo 3.0Ghz 120W CPU

E5-2683 v4 ES
Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 ES LGA2011-3 16C Compatible with X99 i7-6850K 6900K 6950X

Any thoughts from anyone would be much appreciated.
