For £68 it's worth a punt. If it's crap or sounds like a jet engine or whatever I can almost certainly unload it at no loss. If it's good, I can consolidate a couple of switches in my rack down to one and get some 10G uplinks to my servers. If so, the newly-liberated switch could easily be sold on for what I bought this one for.

Yeah I bought one... it was too good to miss so thanks for the spot. Worst case its a hot spare for my other access switches.

Even though I am US based I am trying to buy the last one... the seller did not specifically block US buyers but he did not specify shipping costs so I had to "request total".

Hi there - did anyone purchase one of these switches and if so what is your opinion in comparison to others highlighted on this forum? Thanks

I ordered one but the seller wouldn't ship outside of the UK, and I didn't want to look for a package forwarding service on such short notice.

How noisy is this, for anyone that has one? There are no details in the specification on noise - is it fanless?

Anything with multiple high revving small fans is never going to be quiet. I recently sold a Netgear S3300-28X ProSAFE switch which is fairly modern and had a single fan and it wasn't noticeably quieter than an old Nortel 4526GTX-PWR that had four fans.

If you want quiet, pretty much silent, you can simply mod the switch by disconnecting the small fans and adding a slow moving large fan e.g. 120mm that will shift a similar amount of air as the multiple, high revving, noisy, small fans - simply cut a 120mm size hole in the lid(videos on YouTube).

Here's the old Nortel 4526GTX-PWR modded(cut hole and painted lid) over the past couple of days - will apply finishing touches by tidying up the wiring. Currently running at 23-24dB from a couple of feet away - temps same as the four stock fans at 27-28C.
