mobilenvidia or anyone:

Where can I get the latest IBM Firmware. The IBM site is a mess trying to find the firmware. Do you have a link? I'm going in circles trying to find it there. I have a new M5015 that I would like to update the firmware on. I would like to stick with the approved IBM firmware.

Hi I want you all to know that the newest LSI firmware 12.12.0-0102 fastens FW initialization at boot twice or even more. So it is reasonable to upgrade.

Did you also change the SBR ?

The boot time time with SBR is quite ridiculous, even 1/2 as long is twice as long with the SBR set to LSI
Not tried this FW, did have it the day LSI uploaded it.

Can I keep the IBM firmware and change the SBR firmware? My M5015 takes about 2 min to get past the BIOS Initialization. I don't want to Brick the card trying to update the FW so I have stuck to the IBM FW only, but I'm tired of the long boot time waiting for the BIOS. Does IBM have a fix for this?

No fix from IBM, but I've still not tested latest FW 12.12.0-0102 to test if pablocool is right.

You can flash non IBM FW to the M5015, it still stays a M5015 and the long boot time stays too

To shorten Boot time you need to change the SBR
The later FW block the SBR from being changed.
You need to remove the Firmware, reboot back to USB/bootable disk with FW files.
Then reflash with any FW, IBM is good
THEN set the SBR to anything but IBM (LSI is good), now reboot.
IF reboot before setting the SBR then you won't be able to unless you go through the above again.

I've done this numerous times with my M5015, before doing it

Hi guys.

I did simple procedure.
1. Clean flash with megarec
2. Reboot
3. Change SBR to LSI SBR with megarec
4. Flash new LSI 12.12.0-0102 FW with megarec
5. Reboot
6. Change SAS Address to my card's original with megaoem -AdpSetSASA switch

Booting 6x 2TB HDDs took earlier my FUJITSU RAID Ctrl SAS 6G 5/6 512MB D2616 about 20 - 30 seconds. Now it is really half this time. It is amazing.

I heard that IBM branded cards boot time is ridiculously long.

Hi All

I have just purchased a IBM M5014 controller from ebay with BBU, I understand this is a cut down version of 5015 (i,e 256MB cache and no BBU as standard) 5015 512MB and BBU as standard.

IBM Manual states SATA2 only, we know this is a SAS2108 chip (aka. SAS 9260-8i).

Can I flash my 5014 with LSI 9260-8i firmware to get SATA3 support?

Please advise

"The ServeRAID M5015 and ServeRAID M5014 SAS/SATA Controllers for IBM System x are the next-generation 6 Gbps SAS 2.0 RAID controllers. The adapters have two internal mini-SAS connectors to control up to 32 devices and support global and dedicated hot-spare drives. The ServeRAID M5014 controller delivers a full RAID 6 Gbps SAS 2.0 solution, while the ServeRAID M5015 provides additional performance advantages of an extended cache and a standard battery backup unit. With the attachment of the ServeRAID M5000 Advanced Feature Key, the ServeRAID M5015 and M5014 offer the option of RAID 6, RAID 60, and SED Encryption Key management."

What options are available to set stripe size for RAID 0? What is the largest size possible? 1MB? Will M5000 option key act like LSI FP?

Hi Everyone .

Could somebody please send me a LSI 9261-8i SBR
I could not find any :(
I wish to crossflash my Fujitsu D2616 card, to LSI 9261-8i that I could use the LSI Raid managger for Win 7. The Fujitsu dos not support Win7 so there si no managger program for Win 7.
I wish to use the Online Capacity Expansion (OCE) and the Online RAID Level Migration (RLM) options in the near future.

Theoretically the Fujitsu D2616 has the same chipset as the LSI 9261-8i the "LSISAS2108e" as Pablocool is mentioned.

Please inform me if I'm wrong...

Bios Creen :

My email adres is "pezosandor at hotmail.com"

Thank you very much.

The largest stripe is 1MB
M5000 key enables drive encryption and RAID6 /60 thats all.
If you want FP or Cachecade you need to get a LSI9260 based card with FP key or an Intel version with the FP key.

I have various SBR's in the Firmware update page I keep here
The SBRs are from LSI9260, which should be identical to the LSI9261 except the LSI9261 has the SAS ports horizontally at the back of the card vs the LSI9260 at the front and vertically.

Ths LSI9261 (D2616) = SAS 2108 same as the LSI9260

Don't hold me to it, risk is all yours.
I have the D2616 SBR in there which works on my IBM 5015

Dear mobilenvidia.
I downloaded Yous package, bat I did not found any SRB in the packag :(
I also wrote PM a request to Pablocool how hi managed to modify the card, bat Hi dos not answered me yet :( Hi has also a D2616

O the SRB's are there :) did not sow them earlier.

sbrfsc.bin is stands for Fujitsu ?

What the Empti SRC is good for ?
Or this is the 2. step, is that correct ??
"Write "clean sbr" file to controller:
megarec -writesbr 0 empty.bin"

If I miss something, just flash back the saved original SRB and do not need the Change SAS Address?

The empty SBR is for when you cleanflash the card, also flash the empty SBR
It resets the entire card.
Then you reboot, flash the SBR, flash the Firmware, set the SAS address and your done

first I need to down grade the firmware right ? because from 73 the firmware dos not allow to change the SRB right ?
then flow this steps :

0. Downgrade the firmware
0.1 restart,
1. Save original sbr
Megarec -readsbr 0 backup.sbr

2. Write clean sbr file to controller:
megarec -writesbr 0 empty.bin

3. Erase controller Flash (Yes, this is safe procedure)
megarec -cleanflash 0

4. Power cycle your system (just reset, or shut down then restart?)

5. Reflash controller.
sas2flsh -o -f sbrlsi.bin -b 0090_lsi.rom

6. Program SAS address change:
sas2flsh -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx

where "500605bxxxxxxxxx" SAS address from small green sticker on yor card, without "-" (if I can found any on the card.)

Just one more step to insert or you are back with FSC SBR

4. Power cycle your system (just reset, or shut down then restart?)

5. Reflash controller.
sas2flsh -o -f sbrlsi.bin -b 0090_lsi.rom

5.5 megarec -writesbr 0 SBRLSI.bin

6. Program SAS address change:
sas2flsh -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx

where "500605bxxxxxxxxx" SAS address from small green sticker on yor card, without "-" (if I can found any on the card.)

FSC controllers cannot be used with sas2flsh -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx to change sas address. Use megaoem -AdpSetSASA 500605bxxxxxxxxx instead.
