Hello,

I came across this post by s0lid: http://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/diy-ib-switch-possible.2306/

My bank account says I can't afford to buy an 10 GB switch.
On the other hand I have a Supermicro A1SAM-2750F lying around.
So I was thinking of equipping this board with 1x Brocade 1020 CNA 10GbE PCIe Cards (still have one as a spare) and a compatible PCI-E x4 card.

So what I would like to know is:
1.) If I setup the A1SAM-2750F with OpenVSwitch could that machine act as a 10 GB switch?
2.) Are there any PCI-E x4 cards that are known to work with the brocade 1020?
If not: Does anybody know a SoC board with lets say under 40w TDP that has the possibility to equip 2x pci-e X8 electrical?

If you had the cards you could try it. No reason not to give it a try. I think the latency may be higher but that may not be a big concern.
