    The average price I have paid for 8TB hard drives the last 18 months is around 30USD ea. Seriously, there is a huge amount of almost 10 years old 8TB hard drives on Ebay. Just wait and the will be a price crash. There are still plenty of those 3 years old 14TB Toshiba drives for 80 USD

    Yes, because slog is about latency. You want fsync to happen as fast as possible.
