Should I expect compatibility with Server boards from the usual manufacturers such as Supermicro?
They are ES. YMMV. Best to google the forums and get compatibility reports on specific MBs before buying (unless you are willing to be the one who verifies for others...).

Yes. Also, pre-C0 and C1 requires much more validation.

2660's have a base clock of 2.2 GHZ, with 3 GHZ for one core. Might be rather E5-2665, which had 2.3 GHz in ES versions (2.4 GHz finally)

This may BE the drop due to IB-E ES. The non-disclosure customers started getting them several weeks ago and the older ones get getting displaced. The largest price drop should be associated with the initial surge of inventory onto the secondary market...which is happening now.

Also - this current seller probably has quite a few to move. He's sold at least 6 since Patrick posted the link this morning, yet the qty remaining stayed at 8 all day, until about an hour ago when it went up to 9. Guessing he's trickling them out.

IB-E chips have been out to big customers in fairly significant quantities for some time now.
