I installed the update, but unfortunately, it does not solve the wake on lan issue under Windows 10 / 11.

I am providing a modified bios for the BKHD BK-NAS-N5105 board based on the bios available at this address: BKHD N5105 1338-NAS
The modification concerns the inclusion of hidden options and does not change the default values. Uploading the BIOS and changing the discovered parameters is at your own risk.

I tried upload modded bios here but this forum doesn't allow me to upload too large file. So I added it by wetransfer but it will be no active too long:

Hi all,
I have a similar board but with J6413 CPU. Have 2 x 16GB RAM modules from Samsung installed , and it works just fine. I'm not sure why I initially decided to get J6413 instead of N6005, but seeing how RAM is an issue for some people here, maybe I made the right choice :D

At the same time, the seems to take quite a bit of time to load; after I press <Del> to enter BIOS, I need to wait maybe a minute until it loads.
Now I want to try to update BIOS to see if that fixes anything, but wondering if I should make a "backup" first and how to do that, just in case something goes wrong and I want to revert.

Also wondering if there's a way to boot from USB directly, instead of always seeing the BIOS screen first. In my case, when I power on the machine, I always see the BIOS logo and need to enter BIOS first, then select "discard and exit" after which it will boot to available device (in my case USB). There's probably an options for that in the settings, but I can't find it yet :D

Any advice?
Thanks

Hi xoxer,

I installed your modded bios on this BKHD motherboard, but I can't seem to find an ASPM section among unlocked features. In fact, I really don't see any difference from the factory 208 image, other than R209 showing up on the post splash screen. I would expect ASPM to maybe appear in Chipset -> PCI Express Configuration, but it contains these 7 entries: PCIE X2 Port (PCIE Root Port0), PCIE X1 to SATA (PCIE Root Port2), PCIE X1 SSD (PCIE Root Port3), PCIE LAN1, PCIE LAN2, PCIE LAN3, PCIE LAN4. All accept either enable or disable, nothing else. I also checked in Advanced -> Power & Performance, but nothing stands out relating to ASPM.

Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

May someone explain the difference between CW, MW and BK boards. CW boards are obviously manufactured by CWWK, but who is manufacturing MW/BK boards?

Hi netpolorian,
I put a copy on my onedrive storage - here's a download URL and an md5sum:

60f3e040fe7ee93239dca7009c50b00b BK NAS N5105 MB BIOS 208 MOD.ZIP

I'll leave it there for a little while, but I'm not sure how useful it's going to be. I just don't see any unlocked features, so I'm considering going back to the stock factory firmware. If you figure this out, please post here with whatever you did to get the unlocked stuff. Thanks.

It is true, in the xoxer`s bios, the hidden options are not present. I don't know if it is something we are doing wrong or it is simply the unmodified bios.

My motherboard is this exact one: BKHD N5105 1338-NAS BKIPC

Try this mod from jit-01010 in the Unraid forum, is working in my board:

Another thing i have done, is to update the ASM1166 chipset, installing windows.
Without updating the ASM1166 chipset, entering some options resets the motherboard.

In any case, even deactivating the turbo boost as indicated, I still cannot get further than the C3 state. I have consumption of 24w without discs :(

I have few BKHD N5105 boards. Looks identical boards
Copule of boards need to have jit-01010 bios mod for ASPM to show up.
Couple of boards needs xoxer bios mod for ASPM to work.
I almost gave up after couple of months scratching my heads trying to figure up why ASPM won't show up.

My notes:

April 2024
BKHD N5105 board , 2 x 8gb ram , USB 32gb card
Unraid 6.12.4 with BIOS mod enabled ASPM
powertop --auto-tune , idle 11-12w C8

Innovation 4 bay case with N5105 , 120mm fan
Unraid 6.12.4 ASPM enabled , C8
1 512gb nvme
4 HD , all spin down 18w
1 HD spin up 21w
2 HD spin up 26w
3 HD spin up 36w

Hello! First of all, thank you for your messages. This weekend, I've been devouring the thread, and it has helped me a lot. I want to mention that I've acquired an N5105 BKHD-1338NAS-17 motherboard (the green one). It came with a 3-pin fan that was running at 100% and making a horrible noise. The BIOS version was 11/22/2023, labeled as GFJSL-V1.1-R208.

Thanks to @sambaum , I decided to replace the fan with a Noctua NF-A6x25. However, it turns out that the metal heatsink is different, and using zip ties didn't go as smoothly for me as it did for him. In summary, I secured it by twisting and bending the metal a bit, but it holds up adequately.

I'd also like to thank @h0nza because I have the same motherboard, which has two 4-pin fan connectors that lack PWM functionality. Unfortunately, they're not useful.

Now, regarding the BIOS, I tried using the modified version by @jit-010101. It didn't install upon reboot, but I managed to get it working by entering the UEFI tool from the BIOS (I found this on the unraid forum). Initially, it didn't boot, but after a while, it did. However, now I see sections without text, and when I enter the PCI Chipset section to enable ASPM, it freezes, requiring a restart.

I also attempted to update the ASM1166 chipset as @netpolorian suggested. This involved reinstalling Windows from scratch (thanks to RUFUS for allowing installation on an external hard drive). Unfortunately, the text options are still missing, and the PCI section continues to lock up the BIOS.

In short, I have several problems, let's see if anyone can think of or has run into the same thing:
  1. The bios, I'm afraid that although they are similar, they are not the same motherboard version and the one I installed is not 100% compatible. Has anyone else tried it? @h0nza did you find anyone else with our motherboard version?
  2. The CPU fan and temperatures. I don't go below 50 degrees in idle, and in the bios I only see one option to control the CPU fan (minimum temp to turn it off, temp to turn it on, temperature for maximum speed, start pwm value and what I understand is the increase of pwm, which is 2 PWM by default) has anyone played with this? It can also be controlled by SW, but I don't know if it will be worse and I haven't used it
Anyway, thanks for everything, any idea is welcome!

Good Sunday to all.

try xoxer`s bios
I'm afraid there is a new problem:

@xoxer do you know what can be the problem? I tried to download from two different PCs, just copied it to a FAT32 USB, copied direclty the zip contents to the root of the usb.

EDIT: Checked MD5 data (ok) and a different USB, same result :(

I kind of remember that problem running 1.nsh
Instead of running 1.nsh

> cd to your flash drive
type the command directly > fpt -f 208.bin

Updated bios worked for me.
